October 22, 2024 - Letter from Session

October 22, 2024

Dear Christ Pres Family,

We are now nearly 5 months into this time of transition, and we have come a long way together! In this season of longing for what was and what is to be, we have been together, and we have been faithfully led by our loving Shepherd.  We are deeply grateful for each of you.  Many of you have stepped up in various ways, whether by preaching, serving on the pastor nominating committee, working on the elder/deacon nominating committee, helping with the church building, or participating in mercy ministries.  It has been a blessing to see how we have surrounded each other with love and compassion, living out our calling to know, grow, and show the love of Christ.

For the past 5 months, we have had a series of guest preachers.  Although it has been a blessing to hear from many different gifted speakers, we also realize that having a different preacher every week can lead to a sense of discontinuity.  Once the PNC slate was finalized, Session began talking and praying together about finding a Transition Pastor.

Specifically, we decided to look for a part-time Transition Pastor who could bring consistency, stability and continuity for our church.  We have been in active discussion with our presbytery and pastors from sister churches with the aim of finding someone with interim pastoring experience, familiar with Christ Pres, with a pastoral heart, and available to serve for at least 3 months with an option to extend if it seems a good fit.

Please pray with us as we have more conversations happening this week. We hope to have more news for you about this by the end of the week or early next week.

We love you and are committed to praying for you,

CPC Session of Elders:
