The Wibberlys plan on making their annual trek to Carter Mountain Orchard for some apple picking on Saturday, September 30th (weather permitting - we plan to go even if it is slightly overcast or lightly drizzling, however, if there is heavy rain, we will postpone until the following Saturday). We would love to bring a Christ Pres caravan with us once again. The plan right now is to meet at the Wibberlys' home (1804 Idlebrook Court) and to carpool from there. We are tentatively thinking of leaving around 10:30 AM and having everyone bring a picnic lunch (or a few dollars to purchase a lunch there). However, we are flexible with departure time, so if you are interested in joining us and would prefer a later or earlier start, just let us know via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or text/phone (804-277-9422) along with your headcount. Please let us know ASAP if you are even considering going so that we can finalize plans. Some details you may want to know:
- Carter Mountain Orchard (http://www.cartermountainorchard.com/) is about 55 minutes west of the Wibberly’s home. Directions are on their website in case you would prefer to meet us there.
- There is no admission fee…basically you pay for what you pick and buy. For apples, you may pay using cash, checks or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard or Discover).
- They do sell food and snacks (incredible apple cider donuts, ice cream, pies, cookies, burgers, fries, etc…) and other items like pumpkins, gifts, cider, hard cider, wine.
- We are approaching peak apple season, so be prepared for large crowds and long lines...it's part of the experience.
